Something is missing at Buell Stadium.
The custom letters that spell out Buell were blown off the press box by the Aug. 31 storm, said Activities Director Steve Throne.
But the letters aren’t actually lost to the wind.
“I was on my way to drop off my kids off at their dad’s,” English teacher Laura Cushing said. “And I was curious if there was any damage at Millard South.”
Cushing and her kids saw the letters on the ground.
“My son, an 8th grader at Andersen and a future Patriot, was very adamant that we grab them,” Cushing said.
So she loaded the letters into her dad’s truck, as he knew the Buell family in high school.
“[Next] I texted Mrs. Weaver so that she would know where they were regardless.”
The letters, Throne said, are custom made, and have been picked up by the company. There is not an estimated timeline on when the letters will be returned to hang on what is now simply known as “Stadium.”
