Have you noticed the number of films that don’t take themselves seriously? These movies often feature knowing glances at the audience, cheeky meta-humor, and the occasional fourth wall break. Twisters isn’t one of those movies. Twisters offers a nice change of pace. It’s a nostalgic throwback to summer blockbusters that changed your perspective on the world by delivering an experience that is ridiculous in the best way possible.
This film takes everything that made the original “Twister” enjoyable and makes it even better. Turning up the excitement to a new level with an over-the-top sort of nature. I had an absolute blast watching it. Everyone in the theater was on the edge of their seat, waiting to see how this movie would compare to the original and we were not disappointed.
The characters in “Twisters” are far more developed than those in the original film. I found myself invested in their stories, understanding their minds, and concerned waiting for the next storm to appear. While the film does have flaws and its believability is questioned from time to time, it remains an exhilarating experience that captivates its setting, its characters, and its audience. When the winds started swirling and another storm was brewing the theater was excited to see the next adventure. What’s not to love about that?
