In today’s media and all the new technologies, ensuring student’s online safety is more important than ever. By using securely viewing, is a new tool that teachers are beginning to use in the classrooms to create a safer online learning environment. This new innovative software is designed to help monitor and manage student internet activity. Ensuring that they stay focused on learning content while protecting them from using harmful websites.
Securely viewing works by teachers has an app on their computer that connects it to the software on their laptops and they can see what we are doing on our laptops and they can do things like shut down tabs on Google that we are not supposed to be on like games or classwork for other classes. And they can lock our screens and sometimes they forget to unlock them and when they forget other teachers can get mad when you are in their class because you have to shut your laptop down and that can take time away from class because you have to wait and let your laptop restart and then you have to wait for the internet to connect again.
Some teachers are finding secure viewing to be a critical tool in their classrooms. Not only does it help see what students are doing on their laptops, but it also helps education to better manage what their student’s digital activities are. With the feature of screen monitoring, locking screens, and closing tabs. Teachers can see what their students are working on in real time and provide helpful support when students need assistance.
These are some of the opinions of teachers at Millard South on Securely viewing.
“I like Securely viewing in my opinion. It helps cut down on students getting distracted while using their laptops for class activities,” world language teacher Amanda Newburn said.
“I love it. It helps me make sure that students are staying engaged,” said student teacher Guy Moran.
Some students on the other hand can benefit from a more focused and secure online experience. They can explore online resources and complete assignments while being monitored online by teachers and other educators. This not only changes their learning in the classroom and online learning it also gives parents peace of mind knowing that their student is learning with computers and other electrons with online safety.
Students do not find Securely as beneficial.
“Some teachers use the secure viewing and it sucks because I could be done with one assignment and I needed something else to work on. When my teacher is using secure viewing. They are closing my tabs and sometimes I can’t even look up things that I need to look up because when teachers are using secure viewing they are blocking Google and they get all mad when you can’t look it up,” sophomore Jenna Arrick said.
“It sucks because when we have to put up our phones I need music to do some of my work and I can’t because my teacher doesn’t play music so it ruins the atmosphere, and I’d rather listen to my type of music to block out the loud students in my class. Only troubling students should have secure viewing and they shouldn’t punish the whole class,” senior Alyssa Kim said.
Overall, security is proving to be a game changer in the classroom and the modern education system. By helping to create a safe and focused online learning environment in the classroom and around the school. It supports both teachers and students in achieving their educational goals. As more students adopt this new technology on teacher’s laptops, we can expect to see a safer online learning environment and greater improvements in academic performances.
