The Grammy Awards are one of the most prestigious music award ceremonies, and they recognize outstanding achievements in the music industry. This year they are on February 2nd at 7:00pm. Among the most popular categories are Album of the Year, Best New Artist, Song of the Year, and Record of the Year. These categories often draw the most attention because they highlight the top artists and songs that have made significant impacts in the past year.
To get nominated for these top spots, artists need to be among the top vote-getters. For the big categories—Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best New Artist—it’s the top eight that make it through to the nominee list. Other categories select the top five. With over 90 categories, the Grammys highlight a vast array of musical talent and genres, showcasing everything from pop to rock and beyond.
After the nominees are chosen, Recording Academy members—basically the pros of the music world—get to vote. They cast their votes in the general field and up to ten votes in different genre categories across three fields. It’s all about keeping things fair, so they only vote in areas they know best. And back in 2021, they made the whole process more
transparent by getting rid of secret nominating committees for most categories

I had Millard South students vote on who they think are going to win the top categories of the Grammys. Millard south students thought that Chappel Roan is most likely to win Best New Artist, and that Album of The Year is going to go to Sabrina Carpenter – “Short n’ Sweet”.. They believe the winner of Song of The Year and The Record of the Year will go to “Not Like Us” by Kendrick Lamar. So, who will take home the Grammy gold? It’s anyone’s guess, but one thing’s for sure—it’s going to be an exciting night for music lovers everywhere
