Many high school seniors across the country are currently worrying about a plaguing issue: applying for college. While many teens are still applying or haven’t even started the application process, a lot of teens went through the early admissions and early commitment process. While the early application deadline ended for most schools on November 1st, the process gave helpful insight for those who still haven’t applied yet.
“It was a pretty simple process. All of the college applications I filled out were similar to each other, so once I did my first application, it was easier to do the others.”, senior Emily Christiansen said about her application process. “The application process was not difficult at all.”
Many students like Chrisiansen found the application process easy and not as complicated as they were expecting. With schools also not having ACT or SAT scores required for application and many schools also waving the application fee due to Covid-19, it relieved some of the common stress that students applying for college feel.
“It was great that ACT scores weren’t required for application. It relieved the pressure of applying to college and made me worry less about the score I received on the ACT.” said senior Sydney Mcdermott.
Overall, most students that went through the early application process thought it was a really good decision on their part. Applying early allowed students to get done with the stress of applying to college, and some students even went a step further and went through the early commitment process.
Senior Lexie Corales-Thompson explained, “I early committed to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and I am so excited to go. I wanted to get the stress out of the way and knowing that I’m enrolled in college just lifts so much off my shoulders.”
While applying to college can be a scary process, student opinions on the early application process show that it isn’t really as challenging and frightening as expected; If anything, it’s a relief for seniors during these already stressful times. For those who haven’t started the college application process yet, or for those who won’t be applying till next year or beyond, just push through it and get it done with as soon as possible, and good luck!
