After many years of being a school nurse, Sharon A. Brisson-Schnitker has decided to retire at the end of this school year.
When asked about her decision to become a school nurse, Brisson-Schnitker said, “I love kids and I want to spend time with my kids since their dad died, so I needed to be able to schedule time with them,” she said. A genuine love for kids fuels her motivation.
Remembering her fulfilled career, Brisson-Schnitker was asked about her best memories. She responded, “Lots and lots, too many to even begin to tell you. It has been a real adventure.” The many experiences she’s accumulated over the years at this school highlight the fact that she’s had in our community.
When Brisson-Schnitker leaves, she advises the incoming school nurse, stating, “Roll with all the punches, it gets wild in here sometimes. Make everyone do what they’re supposed to.” She has a lot of wisdom and knowledge of kids.
When questioned about her job’s rewarding aspects, Sharon said, “My relationship with kids, seeing kids get better. Sometimes they come in here with something awful going on and get it fixed, and it’s a heartfelt thing to see.” Her empathy for the well-being of students makes her more than just a school nurse.
Looking toward retirement, Brisson-Schnitker anticipates spending more time with her granddaughter, ensuring family life is a priority. Brisson-Schnitker left an incredible mark on the students and they expressed gratitude for her.
