In the cafeteria, they have multiple study halls with multiple teachers instead of having them in classes, which has the students drastically spread out and on the stools with tables that have no backs. These study halls should be moved into actual classrooms to give teachers the ability to work with students more efficiently, as they are less spread out, and the students will be in actual seating with real chairs with backs. Chairs having backs is vitally important for students to learn and focus properly, as they improve their posture significantly and help decrease slouching and muscle tension in the back, which can decrease blood flow to the brain, resulting in decreased focus and memory retention with long and short-term memory rendering a portion of the study and work they do in this study hall to be drastically less helpful for overall learning and being able to correctly recall information for things such as tests and getting these assignments done correctly if at all. The physical body and posture play a key role in the way our brains function and process whilst storing information. Chairs that do not have backs often end with a leaned-over posture and slumped backs with leaning forward towards our screens. In a study documented by the National Library of Medicine for the United States of America, it is shown that when the subjects had their hands stuck in tied behind their back, it increased their positive body posture and their overall brain function. Having chairless backs will inevitably cause a large portion of students to not sit straight and upwards in a tall upright position due to the lack of back support and table adjacency. Students having improper posture can cause lowered cognitive function for learning and remembering study and new information. Therein, students not having a way to have proper posture help from good seating in the cafeteria for study halls is actively decreasing these students’ ability to learn and study in the environment that the school has provided for them, which could negatively impact their overall performance and learning on important tests and classes.
