August is a junior and this is his second year on staff as both a cartoonist and a journalist. Outside of school, he likes to draw, read, and play video games. He is also in chamber orchestra and has been playing violin for six years.

Artist Statement: I did this on Blender. I had a lot of trouble with figuring out textures since I needed to download things, but I didn't have the resources to do so. I also had technical difficulties with adding the $ because I have never used the texture painting feature before. I guess I didn't really need it since skittles are already pretty smooth. When trying to figure it out, I accidentally saved over the file with a cube I was practicing on and had to start all over. Yay. But I got it done and it looks like skittles. I didn't want to get a copyright strike or something like that so I put the line through it to make it look like a dollar sign. I also did this to tie into the theme of taxes.

Artist Statement: I haven't actually seen the movie yet, so I decided to draw Maui's hook because I've seen him holding it in thumbnails. I was originally going to draw the Heart of Te Fiti, but I soon found out that it wasn't an integral part of the new movie. I used Procreate to draw it on my iPad.

Artist Statement: I used Procreate on my iPad to draw this. I was originally going to draw the whole open laptop, but it was really tedious to draw all of the keys, plus I didn't think it would be necessary to the piece, so I used a picture of a Dell laptop in tablet mode as a reference instead. I wish I could've added some more detail to both the laptop and the eye. It was overall supposed to capture the idea that we're being watched while we do our work and that teachers can see everything we do in them.

Artist Statement: I came up with this idea from the poll we sent out. The most voted fear was spiders, but I also noticed trypophobia and fear of the ocean. The trypophobia response gave me the idea to put holes in the spider's back and I was originally going to incorporate water into it, but I wasn't sure how. I 3D sculpted this in Blender. This was actually my first time using the application, or even 3D sculpting at all. I'm pretty proud of it. I do wish that I could've added more variation to colors and the landscape.

The art is mostly focusing on the Starbucks aspect of the article. I drew it on my iPad, an upgrade from drawing on ibisPaintX using my finger last year. My thought process was to depict the Starbucks logo in a storm.

Artist Statement: All I was really thinking about was a teacher who was really stressed, so I drew that. I decided to show that she was thinking about all the stuff she has to worry about. It's more rushed than my other pieces because, ironically enough, I'm also stressed with finals. I would have really liked to change the shading on her face so that it doesn't look like she got beaten by an angry student. I used ibisPaintX with a stylus.

Artist Statement: I wanted to incorporate something about college in it, but I wasn't sure how. I had to dull down the colors a bit since the colors were very bright after importing it from the drawing program that I use.

Artist Statement: I actually had some difficulty with this drawing and debating whether or not I should include certain details. I have no idea how I got the bottom right corner of the clothing rack to look that on fleek.

Artist Statement: Drawing this photo was fairly easy. I needed to look at a reference photo for what an IV bag actually looked like and I just went off of that and added red blood cells to signify the blood in the blood supply.
