It’s the holiday season and people all over the world are listening to their favorite holiday hits. Have you ever wondered what holiday song is the most popular? I know many students argue about which holiday song is the best.
Common Sense polled students on which song is the best.
The school’s most popular holiday hit was Last Christmas by Wham! Twenty-four percent of the student body voted for Last Christmas. Despite being released in 1984, this song is still a major hit. This song is so popular because it is up beat and it’s fast paced. This song is also very nostalgic for many people and it reminds them of their childhood Christmases.
Some of the other popular songs were All I Want For Christmas Is You by Mariah Carey with 17 percent of votes, Carol of the Bells by Lindsey Stirling with 9 percent of votes, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas by Frank Sinatra with 9 percent of votes. You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch by Thurl Ravenscroft earned 8 percent, I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Clause by The Jacksons, 12 Days Of Christmas by Frank Sinatra, and Santa Tell Me by Ariana Grande with 7 percent of votes.
Some students also had a favorite song that was not on our poll, so these students decided to write their own. Some of these songs are The Holly and the Ivy by Hawk Nelson, Happy Xmas (War is over) by John Lennon and Yoko Ono, Make It To Christmas by Alessia Cara, Friday by Rebecca Black, Closer To Christmas by Jason Derulo, and The Christmas Song (Christmas Don’t Be Late) by Alvin and the Chipmunks.
