Seniors Matthew Worden and Emery Parker have been utilizing their musical talents to play punk rock music around the Omaha and Lincoln area in their band, Anxiety.
“I think the experience is just really good. I get to meet a lot of new people who are really cool and have the same interests, and just getting to be on stage and seeing everyone have a great time is just such a great experience,” Worden said.
Worden is the band’s drummer, accompanied by Emery Parker on guitar. The other members include Eli Wirth, also on guitar and lead vocals, and Rosalie Scherbarth on bass and vocals.
Worden saysAnxiety is planning on expanding its musical portfolio all the time.
“Right now, we’re mostly doing covers. We’re working on getting more singles out there,” Worden said.
The band has played several shows around Omaha and Lincoln, at venues such as Duffy’s Tavern, the Pet Shop, the Beach House, and the Bay.
As for booking shows around the area, Anxiety has had a lot of practice.
“Just contact as many people as you can, see if they’ve got a night open, figure out time and if you’re going to invite other bands, and just get everything set up,” Worden said.
“Wherever you can find a gig is good because a gig gets you out there. It gets people to know you, and that’s what you should be doing,” he said.
As for promotion, Worden said, “The best way to support us is to follow us on instagram, @anxiety.the.band. Come see us!”
